He graduated from Haven High School with the class of 1960. Don was a veteran, serving in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany.
Don was an over-the-road truck driver based out of Texas. He later drove for Groendyke Trucking for many years. In 1990 he suffered a stroke and has since resided in nursing homes. He loved doing crafts, had an extensive barbed wire collection and was a huge fan of WWE wrestling.
Don was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven.
Don was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a special friend, Deb Geffert of Hutchinson; brother, Robert (Kathy) of Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Ott Funeral Home, Haven, KS. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Haven. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and sent in care of Ott Funeral Home, 102 N. Wichita, Haven, KS. 67543
