Donald "Don" Roy Eaton, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Born on February 13, 1943, he was the cherished son of the late Lola Eaton, and a longtime resident of
Cincinnati, Ohio.
Don was drafted into the U.S. Army before beginning his career with the postal service. He was a mail carrier until his retirement.
Don's greatest joy was his family. Along with his wife, Patty, he created a lifetime of memories. He and Patty had a lively social life, often hosting friends for games of Trivial Pursuit or cards and throwing the best Halloween parties. They also shared countless hours of quiet companionship, often sitting at his desk in the basement discussing their days over a beer.
He gave his daughters a memorable childhood, especially during the many weekends spent camping and boating on the river. This tradition was shared with the families of his brother, Mike Eaton, and dear friend, Fred Laub, who were also both former mail carriers and who preceded him in death. Together, they threw yearly "P.O. Boys" summer parties for other Post Office families, which always included a horseshoe tournament Don especially enjoyed.
Don also had a passion for reading and shared this with his and Patty's close friend, Maggie Huff. Maggie, who also preceded him in death, was a special friend, and they shared a love for books and could spend hours sitting around the table smoking cigarettes, discussing what they were reading.
A true sports enthusiast, Don was a lifelong, fervent supporter of his local teams, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cincinnati Reds, and the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, and was known for his impressive ability to follow multiple games simultaneously.
He was a dedicated grandfather who took great pride in his grandchildren. He was a constant presence in their lives, rarely missing a sporting event or school function and proudly cheering them on in every endeavor.
Those left to cherish Don's memory are his loving wife, Patty Eaton; his daughters, Annie Spring and Jill (Danny) Siciliano; his grandchildren: Willow Spring, Zen Spring, Mia Spring, Dominic Siciliano, Taylor Siciliano, and Jax Siciliano; and his great-grandson, Orin Gimenez. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Florence Menke; his sister-in-law, Rosie Eaton; and his niece, Linda Schuchter. He is further survived by many Menke family sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Eaton; his brother, Mike Eaton; his niece, Diana Eaton; his father-in-law, Leroy Menke; and his beloved granddaughter, Maggie Siciliano. He will be deeply missed by his entire family.
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 138 Monitor Ave.,
Cincinnati, OH 45233 on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 3pm until words of remembrance at 5 pm.
