Donald G. Engelhard

Don Engelhard passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at Mason Christian Village, Mason, Ohio. Born on September 10, 1931, he was raised in Oak Park, Illinois, Don attended Brown University and later graduated from Beloit College. Don married his high school sweetheart, Jane Peregrine, after they graduated from Beloit. He enlisted in the army during the Korean Conflict and later on the GI bill, pursued his architectural degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  He and his family moved to Kenwood in 1966, residing later in Montgomery and Mason. His beloved wife of 61 years, Jane P Engelhard, preceded him in death in 2014. Don was a loving father of Kathy Coates, David Engelhard, Sally Reinders, the late Bruce Engelhard and their spouses; grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Don was a registered architect working as a partner in GBBN, prior to launching his own firms - Engelhard Bauer-Nilsen and later Engelhard Architects, where he partnered with his son David.  Don was passionate about his profession and was active in the Construction Specifications Institute, earning the distinction of fellow.  In his spare time he enjoyed writing, sketching, reading, playing cards, and he loved  attending events in which his grandchildren participated.  Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM, Friday, July 5th, with memorial service following at 11 AM in the Stone Center of Mason Christian Village Centre, 411 Western Row Road, Mason, OH 45040. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Mason Christian Village  - Pavilion Fund, The Heritage Foundation, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
