Donald Evers Obituary:70 years old 6/3/55 to 7/18/25 Sandia, Texas
Donald had a servants spirit and loved to help others. He was always giving to his family, church, school, and community. He loved his family and God, and would do anything to help them. He loved math and was very good at it. He was very funny, a jokester, a busy body, and did not like to sit at home. He was always on the move. He recently started traveling after his retirement, seeing other states - Oregon, Alaska, Washington, Utah, Montana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and other countries - Victoria, Canada, US Virgin Islands, and even visiting his eldest and grandchildren in Kasakstan. Donald got his college degree bachelor's in education at West Texas State University in 1977. He graduated Canyon high school in 1973. He taught math, science, and special Ed in many different schools in Texas from 1977 to 2023. He started his own school in Plainview - Christian Life Academy from 1994-1996 after a fire devastated Calvary Christian Academy. He received teacher of the year in Banquette, Tx while working there. He served as a deacon in the church at Calvary Church from 1988-1996 before moving to South Texas. He was an ordained minister and he served as the children's church pastor also at Calvary Church in the 1990's and taught children's church at the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in 2024-2025.
Donald was born in Canyon, Texas, 6/3/1955 to Anna Ida Evers (Hess) and Alphonse C. Evers. He married his wife Lilly Eugenia Fish 12/22/1977 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Amarillo Texas.
He is survived by his wife Lilly Eugenia Evers of Sandia, TX, 5 children: George Evers (Saule Kaidau) of Astana, Kazakhstan, Lisa Evers of Kansas City, MO, Shannan Anderson (David Anderson) of Corpus Christi, TX, John Evers of Riviera, TX and Jacob Evers of Atlanta, GA. And 7 grandchildren: Nazima Kaidau, Shawn West, Mackenzie Anderson, William Anderson, Abel Evers, Celine Evers, Aylin Evers, his siblings: Eddie Evers (Deloris Evers) of Canyon, TX, Carolyn Snyder (Denise Snyder) of Amarillo, TX.
He is preceded in death by: his mother Anna Ida Evers (Hess) and Alphone Evers of Umbarger, TX, Charles Evers (Elaine Evers) of Fort Worth, TX, Patsy Huseman (Alphonse Huseman) of Nazareth, TX, Sunny Evers (Caroline Evers) of Hereford, TX, Shirley Woodard (Mark Woodard) of California, Weldon Evers of Amarillo, TX.
There will be a graveside funeral at the Sandia Cemetery (FM 1540/CR 360, Sandia, TX) July 19th, 2025 at 11 am with the burial immediately following. There will be a luncheon and celebration of life following at the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Orange Grove - 1911 FM624, Orange Grove, TX 78372.(John 11:25-26)
