Donald (Don) William Eversmeyer, 83, of Burlington, died Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born June 19, 1939, in Oakville, IA, he was the son of W. Delbert and Helen Kathleen Heins Eversmeyer. On July 16, 1961, he married Sharon Elaine Miller in Burlington. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2016.
He graduated from Wapello High School in 1957. He then went on to attend Burlington Junior College and graduated with an associates degree in 1960. Don served in the US Army from 1961 to 1967. Don was a farmer. He also worked for UPS for 20 years.
He was a member of First Assembly of God Church. Don was also the Union Township Trustee and Clerk. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Fan; he enjoyed spending his time traveling, watching wildlife and spending time with his family. In his later years, he was a passionate volunteer for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House and Hospital.
Survivors include his son, Scott (Lisa) Eversmeyer of Burlington; daughter, Susan (Rod) Reynoldson of Burlington; five grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Markovich, Allyson (Stanley) Sanders, Zachary Reynoldson, Ariel Reynoldson and Stephanie (Joshua) Logan; seven great grandchildren, Wyatt and Lane Sanders, Carter and Harper Markovich, David, Elander and Addy Logan; four brothers, Dale, Dick, Alan and Jim Eversmeyer; two sisters-in-law, Deanna and Peggy; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife of 55 years, he was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert and Leonard.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Burlington First Assembly of God.
The funeral service for Mr. Eversmeyer will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Burlington First Assembly of God. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials have been established for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, Dream Catchers Foundation and Convoy of Hope.
