It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald "Donnie" Wayne Fennell, who departed this life on November 4, 2025, in Macon, Georgia. Born on August 16, 1954, in Cordele, Georgia, Donnie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Donnie, known for his kind and funny demeanor, was a general contractor by trade, having built a fulfilling career through hard work and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. An avid outdoorsman, Donnie had a lifelong passion for deer hunting and fishing, often turning these activities into friendly competitions. He relished in the joy of sharing these moments with his family, notably being present when his wife and stepdaughter achieved their first hunting successes. Family was central to his life, as he created lasting memories with them at many of the lakes and rivers in Georgia.
In addition to his love for the outdoors, Donnie cherished his dog (best buddy) Spodie, who could always be found in his shadow or lap. He was also a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and embraced every opportunity to travel to West Virginia, where he enjoyed spending time with Sylvia's parents. His streak of good luck could be seen not only in fishing but also at the slot machines, as he often returned victorious from his escapades.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clinton Fennell and Ruth Thomas. He is survived by his devoted wife of twenty years, Sylvia Ferrebee Fennell, and his cherished children: Candace Smith (Brian), Clinton Fountain, Kristen Stokes (John), Ashley McKinney (Justin), Chance Fennell, and Jessica Bryan. Additionally, he leaves behind stepchildren Steven Mason (Amber) and Audrey Brown (Jesse), a host of grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends who adored him. Donnie was the eldest of his siblings, including Ronnie Fennell (Theresa), Penny Rogers, Terry Fennell, Albert Fennell (Martha), and Brian Fennell (Barbara). His legacy will continue through the countless memories shared with loved ones who were privileged to be part of his life.
In remembering Donnie, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. He will be profoundly missed but will live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to a charity of your choice in Donnie's name, a gesture that reflects his generous spirit. A private memorial service will be held to honor his life and legacy set at a later date.
