Jewell Crittenden Fennell

Jewell Dean Crittenden Fennell, age 83, of the Fennell Community, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at her home. Jewell was born September 25, 1942 in Leighton, Alabama to parents, Thomas L. Crittenden and Bertha Mae Rogers Crittenden. She graduated from Colbert County High School in Leighton Alabama. In her high school yearbook it is written, "The virtue of her lively looks excels the precious stone". She worked as a beautician, cashier, bank teller and medical biller to name a few positions she held as she followed her husband during his military career.
Jewell is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William Mike Fennell, Jr.; sons, Christopher Alan Fennell and wife, Melissa of the Fennell Community; Richard Dewayne Fennell and wife, Charity of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brittany Fennell of Lufkin, Ashley Oliver of Lufkin, Taylor Fennell of Austin; brother, Billy Crittenden and wife, Marty; sister, Deborah Choate Alford; sisters-in-law, Jane Crittenden, Sherrell Pilkington; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandson, Christopher Blake Fennell; parents, Thomas Lee Crittenden and Bertha Mae Rogers Crittenden; brothers, Lee Oneal Crittenden, Thomas Crittenden, Jr., Sidney Crittenden; sisters, Lila Marie Crittenden Randolph, Jennie Faye Crittenden Wright; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William Mike Fennell Sr. and Mary Edith Robertson Fennell; sister-in-law, Judith Carol Fennell Pendergraft; brothers-in-law, Kyle Pendergraft, John Pilkington, Roy Choate, and Sidney Alford.
Jewell will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a dear friend to all who knew her. Her beautiful eyes, bright smile and laughter will never be forgotten.
Funeral services for Jewell Fennell will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2025 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joshua Currie officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to service.
Interment will follow at the Fennell Garden of Memories Cemetery.
