Donald (Donnie) L. Fields was born on January 3, 1937 in Kingsbury, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Nina Fields, brother J. D. Fields, sisters Evelyn Hull, Jonell Wright, Nina Ann Fields, Betsy Kinsel and his beloved daughter Robin Fields. He is survived his wife Dorothy Fields; children Cindy (Robert) Crabb, Rodney (Irene) Fields, Jay Fields and Angela Fields; grandchildren Melissa (Carlos) Aguirre, Taylor (Britanie) Fields, Brittany Whitsett, Bethany (Greg) Folsom, Rochelle Fields, Courtney (Ryan) Moreland, Jessica Askins, Derrick (Audrey) Fields, Madison Fields, Kari Charino, Nick Charino, Marina Farquhar; great-grandchildren Bryce Folsom, Mia Aguirre, Kayla Whitsett, Cannon Askins, Taylin Fields, Ryatt Boudreaux, Ryder Poindexter, Travis Folsom, Willow Nelson, Beckett Fields, and Jeauxsie Boudreaux.
Donnie loved his family and worked hard to support them. He was one of the most generous and kind men you could ever meet. He was a man of integrity and left a lasting impact. He had no enemies.
Donnie was a committed Christian. He gave his life to the Lord and was baptized in Tehran, Iran. He was proud to be called a Christian and said so everywhere he went. He loved to pray for those around him. Because of his faith, many people sought his prayers particularly when they were in danger.
Donnie was a cowboy at heart and would have been content raising cattle on San Jose Island, but the oil patch was a better choice to meet his family needs. He worked all over the world in various roles from roughneck to tool pusher and ultimately a company man. He spent his early years in Louisiana and Texas before taking his family on an overseas assignment in Iran. He also worked in Dubai, Australia and the North Sea before moving his family to Alaska. His oilfield career spanned from 1955 to 2012. He walked his faith out in everything he did and never complained about the hard work. He had the admiration of everyone that worked with him.
Donnie was a real family man. He loved his wife of almost 71 years. He always called her Sweetheart and held her hand everywhere they went. His children adored him and loved to spend time reminiscing about their life together. He had a great love for horses and was fortunate to share that love at various times with his kids and grandkids. He will be truly missed.
