Donald Raymond Fine

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald R. Fine announces his passing on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Bonell Good Samaritan Community. He was born January 22, 1922 to Albert and Maude (Todd) Fine. He attended public school in Greeley, graduating from Greeley High and Colorado State College (now UNC). He served in the Army Air Force during WWII from June 1942 to November 1945 as a 1st Lieutenant, flying B24's in Europe. Donald married his high school sweetheart, Eunice Wharton, in 1944 in Greeley. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family. He was a soft spoken, thoughtful gentleman. He will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Cappie and Elissa (David) Marshall and a son, Todd (Patti). He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, Gui (Heidi) Marshall and Emy; Lexee Marshall, Ashley (Joe) Cardiel and Brodie and Lotte; Holly Fine and Quinn Norris; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Maxine. He was the owner and manager of Greeley Coca Cola Bottling Company from 1949 until retirement in 1979. His grandfather started the company in 1908. Over the years, he was active in Rotary, First Christian Church, Salvation Army Board, local Boy Scout Board, Masonic Lodge, and Elks. His hobbies included golf, photography and travel as well as attending all of his grandchildren’s recitals, sport competitions and school activities. The family wants to thank the staff at Peaks and Summit at Bonell and the Hospice staff for our father's extraordinary care. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm, Thursday, September 9 at First Christian Church.
