Donald Lee Garlitz, of Frostburg, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 after a very brief illness at Mon General Hospital.
Born on May 9, 1935 to the late Melvin and Kathleen Mae (Minnick) Garlitz. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Clara Arzona Keefer.
Don was a member of the Army and served in the National Guard with Honorable Discharge. He was catholic by faith and enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, gardening and anything mechanical. Don could fix or build just about anything. He was a lifelong truck driver eventually retiring from Stroehmann Bakeries.
Surviving are his wife Georgia and fur baby Maggie, Frostburg; brother, Jerry L. Garlitz, Frostburg; nieces, Alicia Wiggins and husband Joseph, Florida, Kimberly Broadwater and husband Richard, Grantsville, Rhonda Reed and husband Tom, Frostburg; nephews, Mark Garlitz and wife Patty , Frostburg, Jeffrey Keefer and wife Susie, Hagerstown, along with several great and great grand nieces and nephews.
Don and Georgia made a home together and shared many memories. Don also shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews. The younger generation affectionately calling him Uncle Duck.
Don was very loved and will certainly be missed. His home gave us all a soft place to land. May his passing provide him eternal life and the freedom from pain and suffering. We love you Uncle Duck.
Don was cremated in accordance with his wishes.
