Donald Gregorash Obituary

Donald A. "Donny" Gregorash
Born: March 29, 1933 in Joliet, IL
Died: November 14, 2023 in Plainfield, IL
Donald A. "Donny" Gregorash, age 90, a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Joliet, IL, suddenly passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Lakewood Living Center in Plainfield. He was born on March 29, 1933, in Joliet, IL.
His family truly believes that he died from a broken heart. Donny's wife and love of his life, Joanne, passed less than a month prior. The two were high school sweethearts and were married on October 30, 1954. They would have celebrated their 69th anniversary this year. They had four children together; he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
Don honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and then went on to DeVry Institute. After completing studies as an electronic technician and a long career that concluded work at Argonne National Laboratory, where he retired after 25 years of service. He was an exceptional handyman; he could fix anything! He also loved to golf, bowl, and play cards with his friends. Donny and Joanne spent many winters in Alabama golfing with their friends and enjoying their time together. Being surrounded by family and friends also brought him great joy. Donny will be remembered for his big heart and generous spirit.
Donny is survived by his children, Dennis (the late Debbie) Gregorash of Plainfield, Suzanne "Suzi" (Dave) Misewicz of Plainfield, Robert "Bobby" (Debbie) Gregorash of Glen Ellyn, and Margaret "Meg" (Sean) McLaughlin of Arlington Heights; his sisters, MaeRose (the late Ralph) Nash of Plainfield and Judith (the late Bob) Homan of Joliet; his grandchildren, Josh (Jamie) Schow, Amy Bersano, and Scott (Erin) Bersano; Michael Misewicz and Jennifer (Tim) Faith-Rosely; Ty and Andrew Gregorash; Shannon McLaughlin and Erin (Jhonatan) Corzantes and great-grandfather of ten, great-great grandfather of four.
He was preceded in death by his late wife of 69 years, Joanne M. Gregorash (nee Donovan); his parents Anton and Ann Gregorash; parents-in-law, William and Pauline (nee Herbst) Donovan, and brother-in-law, Robert Donovan.
The family is planning a celebration of Donald's life after the holidays. Details to follow.
