Donald Eugene Hahn, 75, formerly of Iuka passed away on June 18th, 2025, at the Odin Care Center with his family by his side following a lengthy illness. He was born in Olney, Illinois to Arthur and Pauline (Bauman) Hahn on July 2nd, 1949.
He is survived by his two brothers: Jim Hahn (Martha) of Taylorville, Illinois and Gary Hahn (Phyllis) of Salem; two sisters: Janie Grimes of Iuka and Janet Bunting (Kenny) of Sandoval; sister-in-law: Joyce Hahn of Salem; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Pauline Hahn; brother: Robert Hahn Sr; nephew: Eddie Palmer Sr; great nephew: Eddie Palmer Jr.; and his house dog Duke and hunting dog Hank.
Donald was a graduate of Salem Community High School. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, where he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Accounting and later his MBA. He worked in public accounting as a CPA then as Finance Director and later City Manager for the City of Salem and later City Manager for the City of Centralia.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Iuka, where he was a longtime member.
Don enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, and his Bible study. He also especially enjoyed gardening and canning and enjoyed getting seed catalogs even while a resident at the care facility.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 25th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Iuka, with Pastor Paul Pater officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's choice and will be accepted at the service or at Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97 / 310 N. Broadway, Salem, Illinois 62881.
