Donald Warren Hasson, 45, beloved husband and father, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024.
Born in Winter Haven, FL, he was a son of Cheryl (Braasch) Rushton and the late John Hasson.
In May of 2003, Donald was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida, where he met his wife, Alyssa.
In his career Donald loved taking on challenges and, true to his engineering background, solve problems. He was known for challenging convention, leading teams in developing strategies and solutions, and inspiring those around him. These skills helped him establish a successful career within Product Management where he was most recently a Chief Product Officer in the software and technology industry. Throughout the progression of his career, he cared deeply for the people he worked with, developing lifelong friendships and striving to make a positive impact on them both personally and professionally.
Donald was the ultimate cheerleader for all the people in his life and inspired all he came in contact with. He held himself to a standard of greatness and went all in on any endeavor he took on, believing anything worth doing was worth overdoing. As a father, he supported his children in their passions, learning about soccer, horseback riding, and swimming so he could push his kids toward excellence. His distinctive voice was a staple of the sidelines of the soccer field and pool, and his enthusiastic hugs were an expectation regardless of how shows, meets, or games went.
Despite his drive, Donald was not without humor. His laugh was easy and infectious. He loved watching funny shows and sharing them with his children. Many times it was said that it was funnier to watch Donald's response than it was to watch the actual show or movie. He loved a good laugh.
As a husband, Donald was loving and devoted, and he provided a comforting stability and security. He and Alyssa enjoyed traveling and adventuring together, hiking in beautiful places, and listening to great music. Donald loved fishing and spent countless hours over the course of his life fishing in oceans, rivers, and ponds. He loved being on the water.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alyssa M. Hasson and their two children, Caroline and Lucas Hasson; mother, Cheryl Rushton; brother, Jared Hasson and his wife Melinda, and their children, Warren and Lexi; mother-in-law, Cindy Kraft; sister-in-law, Laura Frank and her husband Kyle, and their children, Everett, Mabry, and Cora; and father-in-law, Michael Kochansky. Donald also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family as well as many dear friends and colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Hasson; grandparents, Robert and Thelma (Lorraine) Hasson and Milton and Doris Braasch; and an uncle, Robert Hasson, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. His family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be privately held.
