Born in Hendersonville, NC, he was the son of the late George and Anna Jay Rogers Hoover.
Mr. Hoover was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by sons, Devaughn Hoover and his wife Shirley, of Greenville, and James D. Hoover and his wife Pamela of Mission, KS; two grandchildren, Noel Jones and her husband Jeremy, of Greer, and Devin Hoover and his wife Erin, of Taylors; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife, Claude was preceded in death by three siblings, Worley B. Hoover (twin brother), Rosa Waldrop, and Arthur Hoover.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown followed by a graveside Service at 1:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
