Donald Haydon, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on January 13, 1938, in Willisburg, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Johnny Lee and Flora Lewis Haydon. He is predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife of 65 years Emma Lucy Haydon, two nephews, Paul Kevin Jenkins and William Donald Jenkins, and a brother-in-law, Dudley Jenkins.
After graduating from Willisburg High School in 1956, Donald met Emma Lucy Carr, they were married and moved to Danville in 1957 and they joined Gethsemane Baptist Church. Donald embarked on a successful career as an engineer for American Greetings. He was a United States Army Veteran, proudly serving his country. Donald spent his life dedicated to both his career and his faith, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service.
A faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Donald has served as a Deacon since 1960, guiding countless individuals with compassion and wisdom. His devotion to his church and the values of faith and service he embodied inspired many.
Donald is survived by a brother, Darrol (Carol) Haydon; his sisters, Doris Warner, and Juanita Faye (Marlin) Scrogham; his sister-in-law, Leslie Doris Jenkins; nieces, Marcia Jenkins, Fawn Jenkins, and Penny Lee Gilpin; two great nephews, Dr. Aaron Kyle Jenkins and William Charles Jenkins (Anna Geiger); a great niece, Lyndsie Murray Jenkins and several great-great nieces and nephews along with his church family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2024, at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m, until the funeral service at 2 p.m. After the service, burial will be with his wife in Springhill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY.
Memorial donations may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Don will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to family, and the significant impact he made in the lives of those around him. May he rest in peace.

Don was a wonderful person. I worked with him at American Greetings along with my dad Paul Mehok.

After my father retired Don continued his friendship with my dad having coffee with the old AG gang.

He will be missed by many.

My Uncle Donald was one of the most giving human beings I've ever known.His life was lived daily doing for others always.He didn't just talk about his faith in His Lord,he lived his faith out.You remember back in the day,the quote "what would Jesus do" that's how my Uncle Donald lived his life.Thats how I will always remember him,quiet,and doing for others.What a great testimony!
