Donald G. Hoffman, 90, of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Valleyview Care Center. He was born November 5, 1935 in Fremont, the son of Theodore and Henrietta (Schoen) Hoffman. Don was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph High and went on to work as a shipping room supervisor for Tony's and then Nickle's Bakery. Although he retired from the bakery in 1998, he continued to make cookies often and deliver them to friends earning himself the title of "Cookie Man".
Surviving are his children: Brian (Beth) Hoffman of Fremont; Terri Setlak of St. Augustine, FL; Lisa (Kenny) Thompson of Fremont, Mike (Cindy) Hoffman of Green Springs; Stacie (Carl) Meece of Pemberville; son-in-law Greg Hiestand of Fremont; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister Jean Howard of Fremont, OH and brother Richard of Huron, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cathy Hiestand, great-grandson Levi Hammond and siblings: Joann, Dorothea Krecioch, Theodore, Jack, Jim, R. Edward and Mary.
Visitation will take place from 3-6 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH. Vigil services will begin at 6PM. Additional visitation will begin at 9AM on Wednesday at the funeral home until prayers and procession to Saint Ann Church. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Saint Ann Catholic Church. Fr. Matthew Frisbee will officiate. Private burial will take place at St. Ann Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Ann Catholic Church.
