Donald Joseph Hrncir was born Monday, November 1, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to Ervin Frank Hrncir and Vlasta (Shimek) Hrncir. Donald passed from this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in Durant at the age of 80.
Donald worked as a mechanical engineer at Tinker Air Force Base with a three-year assignment at Zweibruecken Air Force Base, Zweibruecken, Germany from 1974-1977. He was an Air Force employee over 25 years who loved his job and could work well in a big organization.
Donald married his sweetheart Theresa Wolf on September 12th, 1970 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He enjoyed gardening, investing, computers, home and car repairs, and walking. While in Germany, Don discovered VOLKSMARCHING which is a non-competitive walk of 10 kilometers (6 miles) or more. He walked one or more Volksmarches every weekend to accumulate hundreds of miles, kilometers and medals while he lived in Germany. When he returned to the United States, he joined and lead Volksmarch Clubs in Oklahoma City. While he no longer went on Volksmarches he continues to walk as his primary form of exercise.
In Don's later years with Theresa's retirement, they marked off places and events from their combined bucket lists as they traveled to near and far away places. Over the last eight years, they ventured on cruises to such faraway places as St. Petersburg, Russia and Santiago, Chile, as well as much of Europe and the Caribbean. Of course they took trips in the United States with extended family.
Don was a very devoted and active member of the Catholic Church. He served in lay ministries and was instrumental in putting together the weekly bulletins for 17 years at St. William Catholic Church. He was an active Catholic serving in various ministries all his adult life. Don was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Hrncir.
