Donald Russell "Don" Johnson, age 82 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Hospitals - St. Mary's Campus in Rochester with his daughters by his side.
Don was born on August 19, 1943 in Red Wing, the son of Leonard E. and Gladys (Haggstrom) Johnson. He attended Cannon Falls schools and went on to work a variety of jobs. On November 20, 1965 he married Karen Vold. They later divorced. He worked for Cannon Equipment (Point of Sales) and went on to driving truck with Welco Ready Mix/Cemstone for 16 years. Until retiring in 2009, he worked as a masonry laborer with the most recent company being Don Kimmes Masonry.
Don enjoyed cars, racing, and bowling. He spent many years attending the Nascar race in Brooklyn, MI with family and friends. You could always find him tinkering in his shed while watching anything racing related. He was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors in need or use of his tools.
He is survived by daughters, Laurie and Shelly; 6 grandchildren, Brittani (Horace),Cameron (girlfriend, Ashley and her son DJ), Alex (Kaitlin), Kylie, Ryan (Karli), and Ian; 8 great-grandchildren, Kaleya, Kali, Gemma, Elegance, Asher, Edward, Charles, and William; step children, Scott (Julie) and Tina, and Tina's son, Dylan; brother, Keith (Diane); nieces, nephews, cousins; and his beloved cat, Fuzzy. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert "Bob"; niece, Kelly Sholing, and beloved cat, Smokey.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life in Cannon Falls at a later date with a private burial at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
