Donald "DJ" Kane Jr., age 69, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

He was born March 26, 1956, to Donald Sr. and Elaine (Hein) Kane. He was a graduate of Tomah High School.

Don grew up in a close-knit family and carried those values throughout his life. He was a devoted father and grandfather, whose love and guidance were the cornerstones of his family.

His role in the family extended beyond his immediate family, as he played a significant part in raising his nephews and nieces, instilling in them the same values of hard work and compassion that he lived by.

He lived a life of honesty, integrity, and character. His hands, always ready to work, were capable of precision and care that made him a valued member of any team. He took pride in his craft as a machinist and later as a heavy machine operator, and as with anything he did, one of his greatest joys was sharing his knowledge and mentoring others.

Beyond the walls of his workshop, Don was equally passionate about his work as a cranberry grower. He had a deep connection to the land and a knack for understanding the delicate balance of nature. Don's interests reflected his active spirit and practical intelligence. He was a man who simply could not stand to be idle.

He was an avid trap shooter who competed and enjoyed it as a sport. Don cherished the friendships he made with his trap shooting family and passed his love of the sport onto his grandkids, nieces and nephews.

Don's legacy is one of love, hard work, and community. He was a faithful man, a patriot, and always willing to help others. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Chad) Miller, 3 grandchildren, Callen, Braelyn and Drake, siblings, Ann Davis of Versailles, Kentucky, Robert (Gloria) Kane of Tomah, WI, Mary Eagleson of Tomah, WI, William (Carie) Kane of Nashville, Tennessee, Thomas (Lori) Kane of Neenah, WI, and Timothy (Evelyn) Kane of Tomah, WI, his best friend and partner, Tresa Davey, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Sr. and Elaine, and brothers-in-law, Larry Eagleson and Roger Davis.

Memorial Services and a time to share memories will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, 5:00 p.m., at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday. Come as you are, as DJ would want!
