Donald Robert Kelsheimer (84) went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2025. He was born in Paris, Illinois on April 6, 1940 to Ezra and Louise Kelsheimer. He married Judith Lee Coartney in 1962 and they are the parents of two sons, Jerry (Julie) of Cleveland, Ohio and Brad (Katrina) of Plainfield, Indiana. Don is survived by his wife and sons and the following grandchildren; Justin (Kourtney), Jack, Grace, JT, Jacob, Kourtney (Colgan), Abigail, Lyndee, and Ginny, and a special great grandchild, Toby. Don is also survived by a brother, James, a sister, Joanna, and a sister-in-law, Phyllis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Louise, and his brother David.
Don attended Bradley University, Eastern Illinois University, Indiana State University and John Woods Community College and held several degrees and certifications. Don was a teacher at Cumberland High School, Martinsville High School, Casey High School, and Lake Land College. He was a jeweler and watchmaker for many years at the Bird's Nest in Casey, IL. Don was a man of many interests. He was a pumpkin farmer, computer repairman, pond builder, amateur pilot, grand storyteller, and a friend to all he knew.
Don was a member of Casey First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and men's Sunday School class teacher for many years. His greatest joy was knowing the Lord as his savior and looked forward to seeing Jesus face to face.
A viewing will be held at Casey First Baptist Church at 101 East Alabama Street in Casey, IL from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday February 23, 2025. A funeral service will be held at Casey First Baptist Church at 9:00 AM on Monday February 24, 2025 with burial following at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashmore, IL.
Memorials may be made to Casey First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL 62420.
