Harold Jonathon Hester, age 77 of rural Crawfordsville, passed away on September 2, 2025 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born on September 12, 1947 in Crawfordsville to the late Harold "Jack" and Grace "Irene" (Hite) Hester. Jon married Valerie Lyons on August 17, 1969 in Bedford, Indiana.
He was a graduate of New Market High School, Class of 1965 and Indiana State University with a Bachelor Degree of Industrial Art, Class of 1970. Jon proudly served in the National Guard. He taught Industrial Arts at North Montgomery High School for 2 years. He was a self-employed farmer on the family farm near New Market. Jon was also a registered commodity broker and market analyst with Wayne Nelson at L&M Commodities in New Market for the last 30 years. He was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion Post 72, Eagles, and Indiana SAAC. Jon loved collecting his classic cars and attending car shows. He enjoyed going on casinos trips to play cards with his buddies. Jon was a devoted Packers fan and loved going to games with his children. He was often found at home spending time with his corgi, Cooper, and drinking a Coca-Cola.
Jon will be greatly missed by his wife, Valerie; 2 children, Jeremy (Angie Fowler) Hester and Shelly (David) Hamm; 3 grandsons, Bradley, Benson and David; and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASI Crawfordsville, 3097 E State Road 32, Crawfordsville, Indiana 47933 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
