With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Donald Gene Kinnear Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, who entered Heaven on September 4, 2024. Don was born on March 10, 1952, in New Albany, Indiana, to Paul "Brownie" and Mary (Myers) Kinnear. He was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest son, Donald "Donnie" Kinnear Jr., and his siblings, Paul "Junior" Kinnear, Beverlee (Parr) Kinnear, and Raymond and Judy Bridenbaugh.
Donald is survived by his former wife and close friend, Janice (Baum) Kinnear, their two children, Kevin Kinnear and Kelly (David) Goldsmith, and grandson, Levi Goldsmith. He also leaves behind his siblings: Ronald (Marcia) Kinnear, Sandra (Andrew) Albert, Chuck (Margie) Kinnear, Kelvin (Sue) Kinnear, John (Melba) Bridenbaugh, and Harold (Diane) Bridenbaugh, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donald graduated from Kenton High School in 1971. After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was also a member of the National Guard for four years. Following his military service, he worked for Parker Dennison and retired after 30 years.
Don was passionate about cars, enjoying detailing and making them shine-a trait he passed down to his three children. In his younger days he loved cruising around the Kenton square in his 1956 Chevy and later enjoyed drives with his family around Indian Lake, creating many cherished memories.
Donald was known for his giving spirit, wonderful humor, and infectious laugh. He loved his family dearly and frequently invited them to church to share the love of Jesus. His life's journey demonstrated faith's power and God's grace.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 9, 2024, from 11 am - 1pm at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME where the funeral service will follow at 1 PM. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery where Military honors will be rendered to honor Donald's service. Donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa FL, 33607, a charity that was near and dear to Donald. Don and I worked together for many years at Denison Hydraulics (Parker Hannifin). He always had a smile on his face and a kind word. I'm sure his family and friends will miss him. I will. But I'll remember him with a smile.
