Donald W. Light

LITCHFIELD – Donald Light, 89, passed away on November 29, 2025 at Valerie Manor in Torrington. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen F. Light.

Don was born on April 8, 1936 in Massachusetts, son of the late Wesley and Edith Light. He attended Boston University, graduating with an Associate's Degree.

For over 50 years, Don worked as an investigator, first for the State of Connecticut before retiring and establishing his own private investigations company.

He was a proud veteran, having flown for the United States Navy. Don ran for First Selectman and was involved in the campaign for the first female Governor of Connecticut, Ella T. Grasso. He was avid about boating; both sailing and power. Over the years, Don enjoyed many days and weekends at his favorite place, Watch Hill, RI. He loved gardening, especially planting flowers around his pool. Don also built his longtime home in Litchfield with help from his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, of Litchfield, he is survived by daughters, Jennifer and Nancy; son, Brian Light; grandchildren, Brodie, Ellie, and Quinn LaMere and sister, Betty Holton. He was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Johnson.
