Donald Eugene McKinney

Donald Eugene McKinney, 81, of Concord, passed away on May 6, 2022, at his home in Concord, NC.
He was born on August 10, 1940, to James and Pearl (Bruce) McKinney in Union Town, PA. Donald worked as a teacher for 38 years after which he retired. He was known for being a hard worker and having a heart of gold. Donald was always there when you needed him, and he always put others before himself. He was a loving husband, father, and he absolutely adored his grandchildren. In his spare time, he would be found writing award winning poems that to this day are still near and dear to his family's heart. Throughout his life his love and devotion to his family and Jesus Christ never wavered and for that many lives were touched by him. Donald will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Virginia "Vicki", three daughters, Sherri Lynn McKinney, Valorie Joy McKinney, Pamela Goodwin; two sons, Jeffrey Donald McKinney, Christopher Mark McKinney; two grandsons, Josh McManus, Tripp McDermotte; two granddaughters, Crystal McManus(Derrick), Brianna McKinney; two great-granddaughters, Autum Harbour, Izzabella Long;.
He was preceded in death by father, James McKinney, mother, Pearl McKinney, grandson, Jesse McDermotte, daughter, Sheila Anderson.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, 2:00 pm at the Victory Temple Church in Concord NC with Pastor Gary Posey, officiating.
