Donald K. "Don" Meyer, age 82, of Dubuque, passed away at 4:50 p.m., on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at MercyOne Dubuque with his loving family beside him. To honor Don's life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. Anthony's Church, 1870 Saint Ambrose Street. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 11:00 a.m., Friday at St. Anthony's Church, with Rev. Steven J. Rosonke officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Dubuque Post 6 at church after the funeral Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home is assisting Don's family.
Don was born on August 28, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Kenneth and Margie (Nolan) Meyer.
Don attended school in Key West, St. Columbkilles and graduated from Loras Academy, Class of 1959. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 1960-1963. In 1975, he joined the Iowa Army National Guard and eventually transferred to the U.S. Navy Reserves retiring in 1993, as a CPO E-7. Don was always a hard worker who began his career with Telegraphics, Wm. C. Brown, moving on to UPS from 1973-1976, then to Hodge for 10 years and finally retiring from Yellow Freight Systems in 1998. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Joan Pauly, on August 10, 1963, at St. Columbkille's Church. Don was very active in his community and was a member of several organizations. He was a member of the American Legion Dubuque Post 6 on the honor guard, funeral detail and house committee and was Treasurer of DAL Building Corp. He served on the board of General Drivers Credit Union, was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, where he served as an usher, greeter and Eucharistic Minister, and was a current member at St. Anthony's Church. In his free time, Don loved working in his shop and was an accomplished woodworker. He also took immaculate care of his yard. Don was one of a kind and loved his family immensely. He will be greatly missed.

his son,
Brian Meyer, Dubuque, IA;
3 grandchildren,
Kylie Meyer, Michaela Meyer and Emilee (Adam) Miller;
2 brothers,
Tom (Judy) Meyer, Dubuque, IA
and Joe Meyer, Milford, MI;
and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bob (Mary) Meyer.
Don's family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at MercyOne Dubuque and Dr. Engelman and his staff, for the outstanding care they have provided for Don.
