Donald "Chris" Mullen

Donald "Chris" Mullen, born on October 25, 1959, in the quaint town of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away peacefully in Indianapolis, Indiana, on September 7, 2024. Chris’s journey through life was marked by the love he shared with those around him and his caring spirit towards anyone in need.

A devoted husband to Karol Fisher Mullen, Chris always embodied support and encouragement. His proudest moments were often found on the sidelines of athletic fields, coaching his sons Tyler and Luke’s grade school football team and cheering for them at various sporting events. The warmth of his laughter and the pride in his eyes are cherished memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Professionally, Chris made a name for himself as a dock supervisor with Yellow Freight. His work ethic and commitment to his role contributed profoundly to his colleagues' lives and his team's success. Outside of his professional life, he wore many hats—he was a master in the kitchen, a beloved canine parent to Toby and Dexter, and an avid fan of sporting events. His passion for cooking was evident, and many were fortunate enough to indulge in the delicious meals he prepared with love.

Chris was a proud veteran of the National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to serving his country while also nurturing the relationships that mattered most to him. He was a loving husband to Karol Fisher Mullen, a loving and supportive father to Tyler (Kelsey Mullen), he was a beloved son to Donald and Judith Mullen, a caring brother to Caroline Gerughty, Debra “Peach” and Paul Mullen, and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, Adalynn and Weston Tomey. He showed profound love for his family, creating a legacy built on strong connections and cherished memories. He is preceded in death by his loving son Luke Mullen.

Throughout his life, Chris endured chronic pain and heart-wrenching sorrow. One of the greatest losses he endured was the untimely passing of his son, Luke Mullen on February 28, 2022. Through his strong faith and commitment towards his family, he continued his journey of his life caring for those he loved most. The resilience of his spirit, coupled with the love of his family, provided comfort and strength during difficult times.

Chris’s life will be celebrated with a visitation on September 12, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church located at 8300 Rahke Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46217.
