Donald W. Pegher

1941 - 2026

Donald W. Pegher, 84, of Portersville, passed away the evening of Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at his residence.
Born in Wexford on March 28, 1941, Don was the son of the late Jerome and Maude Swain Pegher.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, the former Donna Leonberg Rombold.
Don was a member of Local 66 Operating Engineers for 50 years and had worked as a heavy equipment operator for IA Construction. He then worked for Lindy Paving until he retired.
Don enjoyed watching sports and being outdoors going fishing and hunting. He was an avid NASCAR and stock car racing fan. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Don's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grand- and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his three children, Sandra Schomaker (Craig), Christine Bruno (Frank) and Craig Rombold (Marilee); his brother, David Pegher; sister, Jeanie Mumby; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Don will also be sadly missed by his dog, Josie.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Robert (Jake) Pegher; eight brothers and sisters; and his former wife, Carol Pegher.
PEGHER - Visitation for Donald W. Pegher, who died Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at ED & DON DECARBO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Richard Nero.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
