Donald Pompa, 68, of Patterson, NY, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 20, 1956, in the Bronx, NY, Donald lived a life defined by dedication, compassion, and a deep commitment to both his family and his community.
A proud graduate of All Hallows High School, Donald went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Herbert H. Lehman College and an MBA from Long Island University. He enjoyed a successful career as a senior tax accountant, lending his expertise to major companies like Verizon and Frontier Communications.
Above all, Donald's greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to Isabel (Dispenza) Pompa, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond. Together, they created a beautiful family with their sons, Michael (Brianna) and Christopher (Kara). As a father, Donald was a steady and unwavering presence in their lives, offering them constant love, guidance, and support. He took immense joy in being actively involved in his children's lives, proudly celebrating each milestone and achievement. His heart overflowed with love for his grandchildren, Ryan and Sophia, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Donald also adored his black lab, Chase, whom he fondly called his "third son", and was thrilled by the arrival of his new grandpup, Norman.
A devoted brother, Donald shared a special bond with his sister, Denise (D'Angelo), and her husband, Frank. He took great pride in his many nieces and nephews and was a constant source of strength and encouragement to them, as well as to many extended family members and friends. Whether at family gatherings, holiday celebrations, or everyday moments, Donald's warmth, generosity, and sense of humor brought joy to all who knew him, leaving a lasting impact on everyone's life.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Carmine and Verbana (Sassi) Pompa; his brother-in-law, Marc Tarczali; and several uncles, including Joseph, Anthony, and Luigi Pompa, as well as his cousin, Donato (Danny) Pompa, along with several close friends who were very dear to him.
In addition to his professional and familial achievements, Donald was deeply committed to his community. He served as both coach and president of the Patterson Little League, where he prioritized the well-being of the children and families he served. His leadership and dedication were recognized with a community service award, a testament to the profound and lasting impact he had on the lives of many.
Donald will be forever missed, but his legacy of love, commitment, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Ave, Carmel, NY.
