Donald Quigley Obituary
Donald Mack Quigley, 76, a devoted husband to Robin Quigley, of Cameron, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024. Donald was born on November 14th, 1948, in Wheeling, WV to the late Mack and Freda (Hieroniums) Quigley.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Jack and Alice Jo (Dobbs) Buzzard and brother in laws, Richard "Tom" (Anna) Buzzard, and Mark Mathews. He is survived by his loving wife Robin (Buzzard) Quigley of 54 years. Sisters Diana (Quigley) Mathews, Cathy (Quigley) Woods. His niece Kayla (Drew) Ferguson, nephews Donald Ray Woods and Nicholaus Buzzard, great niece Adalyn Ferguson and several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
After high school, Donald served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was recognized for his honorable service with a Purple Heart, specifically for his heroic action as a wounded veteran. Donald retired from the Operating Engineers Local 132 of Wheeling, WV. Then worked for the next 25 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Crew Leader for Columbia Gas Transmission of Cameron, WV. He ended her career as a Chief Inspector on Columbia Gas Pipelines.
Donald was a member of the Big Run Christian Church in Cameron, WV, the American Legion Post #18, and Masonic Lodge #17.
Donald was an honest, loyal, and generous man. He had a passion for farming and raising cattle. He loved his cattle, especially his bull, Dozer.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby - Vance Chapel from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, December 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Howser presiding. Interment will immediately follow at Big Run Christian Church Cemetery.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Donald's good friend's, Dave Elson and Keith Cumpston for their years of friendship and continued support. Donald was also very grateful for Dr. Lauren Veltri and nurse Beth of WVU Medicine at Ruby Memorial; for the last several years they treated him great love, empathy and compassion, he loved them very much.
