Donald "Don" C. Roberg, 86, of Newman Grove, NE, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Stanton Health Center, Stanton, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Newman Grove, NE with Pastor Claire Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the church.
Levander Funeral Home of Newman Grove, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
Donald "Don" Charles Roberg, son of Selmar and Evelyn (Walldeen) Roberg was born December 10, 1938, in rural Newman Grove, NE. He attended country school before going to Newman Grove High School where he graduated with the class of 1956.
On May 31, 1959, Don was united in marriage to Marilyn Joyce Johnson at Zion Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, NE. From this union, Don was blessed with two sons. The couple lived and raised their children in Newman Grove, NE. Marilyn passed away February 20, 1992.
On March 6, 1993, Don married Frances Knoell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, NE. They spent 15 wonderful years together until her death in December of 2008.
Don married Marian Anderson on June 18, 2010, at Shell Creek Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. The couple lived in Newman Grove, NE until recently moving to the nursing home in Stanton, NE.
Don was a hardworking man with many talents. He worked at the John Deere dealer in Newman Grove, the local dry cleaners, farmed, worked part-time as a maintenance man at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home and Golden Age Apartments in Newman Grove.
He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove as well as being their choir director. Don loved being a part of his community. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Newman Grove school board, and served on the city council as well as being the Mayor of Newman Grove. Don enjoyed the simple things in life: farming, John Deere tractors, playing piano, and listening to classical music. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife: Marian Anderson-Roberg of Stanton, NE; son: David (Jolene) Roberg of Albion, NE; daughter-in-law: Jody Roberg of Newman Grove, NE; four grandchildren: Brett (Karissa) Roberg; Greg (Jenny Young) Roberg; Zach (Mikaela) Roberg; Branden (Jaclynn) Roberg; five great-grandchildren: Kinley, Alayna, Owen, Parker, and Weston Roberg; several step children, step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren; sister: Judy (Phill) Hall of Omaha, NE; JoAnn (Dean) Brudigan of Oakland, NE; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives: Marilyn Joyce Johnson and Frances Knoell; and son: Dean Roberg.
