Donald Francis Roberts

Donald Francis Roberts, 71 of Gloucester, passed away on Friday March 6th. Born at Addison Gilbert Hospital on October 7th, 1954, to the late Ronald F. and R. Leslie (Anderson) Roberts, along with his twin brother Ronald.

Donald attended all Gloucester Public schools graduating class of 1972. He participated in

boyscouts, band, playing the trumpet and xylophone, and ROTC. He went on to Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute where he graduated with an associate's degree in culinary arts. He worked in many local restaurants in the Cape Ann area, most notably Captain Courageous in Gloucester and Dexter's Hearthside in Essex.

He married on August 15, 1981, to the late Donna F. (Tortolini) Roberts and became a father in 1985 to daughter Megan and in 1994 to a son, Jesse.

Donald is well known in Gloucester for being 'the fire extinguisher man' as he switched from a career in cooking to working alongside his mother at Cape Ann Fire Appliance and Recharging Service and Andy's Storage located on Pearl St.

He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and spent time buying, fixing, and selling pre-owned vehicles. Following a triple bypass surgery in 2006, he was no longer able to work and instead spent time with friends at the Amvets, Legion and Moose.

After many years with a weakened heart, Donald succumbed, though outliving his life

expectancy.

He is survived by his children, Megan E. Benjamin of Gloucester and Jesse A. Roberts of Haverhill; granddaughter Brynna L. Benjamin of Gloucester and twin brother Ronald Roberts of Gloucester.
