Donald Irving Sande passed away peacefully on April 15, 2015 in Lancaster, CA. Don was born in Pasadena, CA on January 5, 1935, and was 90 years of age at his passing. Don was the eldest son of Tillman and Ruby Sande - and brother to Steve – and was raised in Pasadena and Altadena, CA.
After graduating from Pasadena City College, Don served in the U.S. Navy, alongside his lifelong friend Bud, and they were stationed for some time in Havana Cuba and other island destinations.
After meeting, and then marrying the love of his life Shirley in July 1963, Don and Shirley settled in Granada Hills, CA and raised two sons (Gary and Ron) and later welcomed a daughter (Lynda).
After the children moved on as adults, Don and Shirley moved to Rowland Heights, CA and then later moved to a development in Menifee, CA. In 2014, he and his wife Shirley moved to Lancaster, CA, where he remained until his passing.
Don and Shirley were devoutly religious, and actively participated in roles in several Baptist churches throughout their marriage and lives.
Don had a sales background, and ultimately became the owner of Sande Equipment Co, located in downtown Los Angeles and later Monterey Park, CA. He sold the business and then retired to Menifee in 2003.
Don is survived by his daughter Lynda, and sons Ron and Gary – and several grandchildren from the Sande, Jones and Link families.
Don will be buried at Memory Gardens Memorial Park and Mortuary, and services will be held on Sunday, April 27 at 11:00 am. Memory Gardens is located on 455 W. Central Ave, Brea, CA 92821.
