Donald "Little Don" Ray Slaughenhaupt Jr.,67, of North East, PA passed away on Friday Sept. 15, 2023 at his residence.
Don was born on Nov. 7, 1955 in Jamestown, New York the son of the late Donald and Anna (Alford) Slaughenhaupt.
Don graduated from Seneca High School in 1974 and was formerly employed by Zurn Industries for 20 years until retirement. Don also worked at South Shore Farms for 18 years.
He was a member of the Greenfield Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of St. Joseph Club.
Don loved hunting, hanging out in his garage with his dog, putzing around with his tractor, enjoying a cold can of Lucky Streak with dip in his lip, and spending time with family and friends. Don was called the "Mayor of Williams Road" by his neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand expecting nothing in return. He was the most selfless man and always had a story to tell with a smile on his face. Don will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Raymond Slaughenhaupt; daughter, Heather Slaughenhaupt; grandson, Easton Slaughenhaupt; and brother, Barry Slaughenhaupt.
Don is survived by his wife of 42 years, Melinda (Schermerhorn) Slaughenhaupt whom he married on March 28, 1981; sons, Joshua Slaughenhaupt and Andrew (Melissa) Slaughenhaupt; daughter, Victoria Slaughenhaupt; sister, Holly Boyd; granddaughter, Kayla (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Carson and Ava; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday 3-7 pm. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com
