Donald N. Smith

YORK – Donald N. Smith, 95, of York, passed away, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Columbia. He was the husband of the late Joyce E. (Stambaugh) Smith.

Mr. Smith was born September 28, 1929, in Canton, Ohio and was the son of the late Norman and Margaret (Wunsch) Smith.

He graduated in 1947 from William Penn Senior High School in York, PA. He was employed for over 40 years as a Production Planner with Cole Steel in York before retiring in 1990. He was a member of A.A.R.P. In his spare time Mr. Smith enjoyed WWII Aircraft, attending Air Shows, all things automobile-related and going out to eat at restaurants. His old standby was the Village Green in York, PA.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Beth S. Weire and her husband Keith of Mount Wolf. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven D. Smith, his daughter, Wendy M. Smith, and his sister, Jean Skura.

His funeral service and burial will be private. His burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.

I deliver meals to others residents at Stoney Brook Manor. I would often chat with Donald if he was outside in his wheelchair. He would make me laugh. My hope is that he did not suffer at his end of life.
