Donald F. Spielberger II, better known as "Spiely", 79, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025. He was born on October 3, 1945, in Altadena, California, to the late Donald Francis Spielberger and Caroline E. (Offuet) Spielberger.
Don's early years were marked by discipline and dedication, attending Saint Catherine's Military School in Anaheim, California, during grades 6 through 8. He later graduated from Upland High School in Upland, California, in 1963 and went on to earn an associate degree from Chaffey Junior College.
In 1974, Don began his long and successful career in the aerospace industry in
Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1994, he and his wife, Marilee, moved to Reno, Nevada, before returning to Indianapolis in 1996, where he was rehired at Tube Processing, which later became International Aerospace Tubes (IAT). He dedicated himself to his work and retired from IAT in June 2009, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and excellence.
A man of passion and precision, Don found joy in golf, riding his Harley, and maintaining a yard that was always picture-perfect. His meticulous nature was balanced by a sharp wit and an incredible sense of humor, which he carried with him even in his final days.
Above all, Don cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilee (Witcombe) Spielberger. They married on June 25, 1994, in Reno, Nevada, and shared a life filled with love and companionship. He is also survived by his children: Donald Joseph (Divina) Spielberger Jr., Doni Jo Wilcher, Terry Smith (Karen), Dena M. Sheler, and Shannon L. Payne; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, Diann (Ralph) Babel, Ben (Linda) Hobson, and Richard (Sherry) Hobson. Don's life was also shaped by past relationships, and he is remembered by his former wives, Patricia Dosh (mother of Don Jr. and the late Kelly Marie Spielberger) and Joann Smith (mother of Doni Jo and Terry).
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kelly Marie Spielberger.
