Donald H. Stinson, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on April 3, 1946, in the Town of Urbana, New York, he was the son of Glen and Mary (Shader) Stinson. He departed from this world in Corning, New York, leaving behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Donald's early life in Urbana was the foundation upon which he built his character and work ethic. After graduating from high school, he dedicated many years of service to Foster Wheeler and Polly-O Dairy, where his diligence and commitment to excellence were evident to his colleagues and supervisors. His work was not just a means to an end; it was a reflection of his dedication to providing for his beloved family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Stinson, with whom he shared a life full of adventure and compassion; sons Eric Stinson and Jim Joseph; daughters Trisha (Doug) Everett, Denise (Tom) Stewart, and Tammi (Howard) Best, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Donald's interests and hobbies were as diverse as they were engaging. A masterful woodworker, he crafted countless birdhouses, frames, and pens, each piece a work of art that showcased his attention to detail and love for nature. His creativity was not only expressed through his woodworking but also in his and Sue's shared passion for volunteering. Together, they constructed wildlife refuges across the country, dedicating most of their time in Arizona, contributing to the preservation of natural habitats for future generations to enjoy.
As we say goodbye to Donald H. Stinson, we celebrate a life well-lived. We remember a man who laughed often, loved deeply, and left the world a better place through his actions and creations. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, as we reflect on the joy he brought to our lives and the beauty he added to the world. Donald's journey through life was one of purpose and passion, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be a celebration of his life in the summer.
