Mr. Donald B. Sutherland, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, went to his home in heaven with Jesus on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Chambersburg Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Born April 3, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Gladys (Adams) Sutherland. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a graduate of Penn State University where he participated in the Penn State Chorus. Don was a financial advisor for several Christian organizations, including Mt. Hermon Christian Conference Center, Mt. Hermon, CA. Later he was employed in sales in the printing and graphics industry.

Don was always a devoted and faithful member of the churches he attended throughout his life. He had a lovely singing voice and was part of numerous men’s choruses and choirs. Don loved playing his guitar and leading the singing at conferences and in church. He and his wife co-led several Bible study groups. Don was currently attending Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church.

Don enjoyed gardening and working on his mini apple ranch in California. He was an avid reader and some of his favorite authors were C.S. Lewis, Pearl Buck, Agatha Christie and many more. He was devoted to his family and loved playing games with his grandchildren. He and Marvae enjoyed many trips to Europe, the Middle East and Alaska.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marvae (Olson) Sutherland who he married December 10, 1982; five children, Jonathan Henry, Janelle Henry, Amy Dunphy (Kevin), Larisa Hernandez (William), and Kamilyn Davis; fourteen grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six siblings, Hugh Sutherland, Robert Sutherland, Jean Draper, Alfred Sutherland, Marjie Finley, and Jessie Taylor. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
