Mr. Donald Wayne Syfrett, age 62, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023.
He was born on September 23, 1960 in Germany to Mrs. Margaret Blanton and Mr. William Syfrett. He served our country in the military for 22 years.
Don was one of a kind. He was genuine, hard loving, and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He was a 22-year Navy Veteran AO1 (AW/NAC), in his military career he worked in special operations in HAL-4 and HCS-4, was a door gunner and crew chief in HCS-4. It was during his time in the military, he met two of his closest and lifelong best friends and brothers, Tim Gallagher and Ron Kilchriss. After retiring from the Navy, Don began working at Allstar Electric as a commercial electrician, retiring after 21 years. During his free time, Don was an avid supporter of our Second Amendment rights, attending numerous rallies and marches. He enjoyed nothing more than a good, spirited conversation and timely teaching opportunities, especially those where he could teach and educate his four grandsons. Don had extensive experience in outdoors survival and loved to take his grandsons out for camping and shooting weekends at their second home in Alabama. Don also loved to stay busy, one of the love projects he and his late wife, Ruth, partook in was dog training. He, they, were founding members of DreamWorkers, a canine based training and therapy organization. Don was an amazing man and will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Amy Whalen (Cody); 4 grandsons, Gabriel, William, Samuel, Henry; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to be made in Don's name to The Wounded Warrior Project or joining Gun Owners of America (GOA) to help continue to educate and fight for his love of the second amendment.
