DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA
Donald Frank Thompson Jr
In loving memory of Donald Frank Thompson Jr., 66, of Kings Mountain, NC, who passed away peacefully at his home on September 19, 2025. Born on September 10, 1959, in Cleveland County, NC, he was the cherished son of the late Donald Frank Thompson Sr. and Loretta Lee Hullender. Affectionately known as "Junior," he dedicated many years of his life to the textile industry, retiring after a long tenure in the dye house at Anvil Knit Wear. Junior was a man of many passions, embracing the joy of collecting with a unique spirit. He had a particular fondness for Hot Wheels cars, hats, knives, eclectic cigarette lighters, and unusual ashtrays, each treasure hinting at a story from his vibrant life. Above all, Junior was a devoted father whose love for his daughters created a tapestry of memories that will be cherished forever. One unforgettable fishing trip, filled with laughter and an unexpected encounter with a snake, is a story that will live on, especially in Mindy’s heart. As a loving "Pawpaw," Junior was not only a provider for his family but also a beacon of warmth and joy for two generations of grandchildren. His gentle spirit and heartfelt presence will remain etched in the lives of all who were fortunate to know and love him. Junior's memory serves as a lasting tribute, reminding us of the beauty in the everyday moments we share. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
