Donald H. Trimble of Fountain Hills passed away May 16, 2024 at the age of 92. Born on October 16, 1931 in Danville, Illinois to Elmer and Molly (Dobkins) Trimble, he was the youngest of three children. He married his high school sweetheart Jean A. Tarman, in 1951and they were married for 73 years until Jean's passing in 2022. He is survived by one son, Bruce, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He graduated from Illinois State University at Normal, Illinois, and entered the teaching profession. He became principal of Rich East High School, in Park Forest, Ill. And then transferred to the same post at Rich South when it opened. Rich South was awarded the National School of Excellence in 1986 (including a visit to the White House in Washington, DC). He is still honored at Rich South as the Gymnasium there bears his name. He was also a long standing member of Kiwanis, serving as president and making a difference in his community.
Upon retirement, he and Jean moved to northern Wisconsin and soon began splitting time between there and Fountain Hills, joining many of his friends from his years as a high school principal. He loved golf and played regularly at both homes even carding a hole in one! He was active in his church, The Fountains, and ran the annual golf tournament for many years. His passion for aiding his community guided his life and led to a rich life of service. He will be missed by many.

On behalf of the Berryman family, we send condolences and love to the extended Trimble family. My Dad and the "Berryman girls" have many memories of Mr. Trimble, all are filled with joy and admiration. He was not only a great principal, he was a wonderful friend to our father. We were honored to know him and have him be a part of our lives.

Don Trimble was a great educator but an even better man. He was a relentless advocate for his school, students and staff. I am blessed our paths crossed. Rest in Peace.

Rich South Class of 1987. Loved Mr. Trimble. Always clam, cool and collected. He always shared thoughts and wisdom that I truly did not understand as a teenager but as I got older, like a ton of bricks, it would hit me. I would totally get what he was saying.
