Donald Gene Tyrey, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Sandra K. (Donald) Tyrey; cherished son of the late Guy and Agnes Tyrey; devoted father of Susan (Dewayne) Tyrey-Jefferson and the late Donna Tyrey; loving grandfather of Rachel Jefferson and Matthew (Chloe) Jefferson; dear brother of four late siblings, three sisters, Alma Burnett, Frances Moore, Mary Jo Helton, and one brother, Owen Tyrey; treasured uncle and cousin.
Don proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and it was there he met the love of his life, Sandra. Together, they shared a long and inspiring 62-year marriage. Following his military service, Don began a career at General Motors, working on the Corvette as well as the truck and bus unit in Wentzville, before retiring in May of 1992. A talented woodworker, Don enjoyed crafting toys and gifts for family and friends. Affectionately known as “Boppy,” he deeply cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and also enjoyed relaxing trips to the beach. Don was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
