Donald Ullum Obituary

Donald "Don" Ullum, born on May 21, 1942, in Lebanon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in Leland, North Carolina, at the age of 83. A beloved father, brother, and friend, Don leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to community.

Don graduated from Lebanon High School in 1960 and pursued higher education at Bowling Green State University, where he earned his degree in 1974. Throughout his life, Don remained a devoted supporter of Bowling Green State University, actively participating in the BGSU Falcon and Booster Club and fostering connections within the academic and athletic communities.

On April 1, 1978, Don married the love of his life, Nancy A. Evans, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories until Nancy's passing. Don was preceded in death by his dear wife Nancy Ann Evans Ullum, his parents Edward Seymour Ullum and Eleanor Dell Clark, and his brother Daniel Ullum.

Don is survived by his daughter Jennifer Ullum of Charleston, SC, his son Jacob Ullum of Leland, NC, and his brothers Dale Ullum and David Ullum. His family and friends will remember him as a man whose voice and laughter filled any room, whose opinions were always forthcoming, and whose heart was generous and caring.

Professionally, Don found great fulfillment as a Production Supervisor with Wood Lane Industries, where he dedicated his career to providing employment and training opportunities for individuals with mental and developmental disabilities in various environments. His work made a significant impact on many lives and exemplified his deep commitment to helping others.

Outside of work, Don had a lifelong love of sports and fellowship. An avid golfer and bridge player, he relished the camaraderie these activities brought. His competitive spirit shone brightly in tennis, where he enjoyed both league participation and casual matches with friends. Don was also an active alumnus of Phi Delta Theta and served as the former President of the Bowling Green Rotary Club, further demonstrating his dedication to service and community.

A faithful member of Bridge Presbyterian Church in Leland, NC, Don was known for his meaningful connections within his church family. Whether serving, supporting events, or simply offering encouragement, he embodied the spirit of fellowship and friendship.

Don's vibrant personality and sharp wit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Though sometimes blunt and never one to sugarcoat his words, those who knew him well appreciated his warmth, humor, and genuine care. His sarcasm and quick comebacks were legendary, earning him both laughter and eye-rolls, but it was his kind heart that truly endeared him to those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Bridge Presbyterian Church in Leland, NC, on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, at 3:30 PM, with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Nancy Ullum Beautification Fund, continuing the legacy of love and care that Don and Nancy shared.

Don Ullum will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
