Ronald "Ron" Herman Robinson, a beloved brother, stepfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in
Leland, North Carolina. Born on April 3, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Ron was 83 years old at the time of his passing.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years, where his passion for law enforcement began while he was assigned to the military police. After his honorable service, Ron embarked on a distinguished 29-year career with the Des Plaines, Illinois, police force, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He was highly regarded and earned numerous accolades for his exemplary service and dedication to the community.
A true gentleman, Ron enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer, often spending serene hours on the green, and loved riding his bicycle through the scenic routes near his home. His admiration for Frank Sinatra's music was well-known among his friends, and he found joy in exploring military history, particularly the events of World War II.
Ron was a valued member of the Elks Lodge in both Des Plaines, IL, and Mountain Home, AR. His warmth and good humor were cherished by those who knew him, and he was considered a good friend by many.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Lynn Robinson; his parents, Loren and Grace Robinson; his brothers, Donald and Robert Robinson; and his brother in law, Ronald Bonecki. Ron is survived by his loving stepson, Brett Besterfeldt; and his devoted sister, Marilynn Bonecki. He also leaves behind many cousins and a wide circle of friends who will dearly miss his presence.
A memorial service to honor Ron's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1 PM at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel, located at 525 Village Road,
Leland, NC 28451. Family, friends, and all those whose lives Ron touched are invited to attend as we celebrate the legacy of a remarkable man who dedicated his life to the service of others and the love of family and friends.
