Carolyn Long Thompson

Carolyn Long Thompson of Leland, NC was called to her heavenly home on November 1, 2025. She was born to her parents, Lyman "Buck" Wade Long, Sr. and Marion Aldridge Long in Wilmington NC on March 22, 1944, and to whom she will surely be looking for when she arrives, along with her niece Kristal Alicia Long. She attended Leland High School in her formative years and was a proud Baptist.

In her spare time, Carolyn could often be found enjoying one of her many hobbies and passions. She enjoyed sewing as well as working with ceramic pottery, and was an avid fan of country line dancing. She was incredibly kind and loved showering kindness and compassion upon children, or tending to her prized azalea bushes in her yard, but she devoted herself to the well being of friends and family most of all.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Debra S. Hannel, of Leland, Donna S. Hall (Vincent Hall Sr) of Lumberton, and Emily J. Sneeden of the home; her siblings, Wade Long (Diane), Sue Watson (Jimmy) and Donnie Long (Janet); her grandchildren Jason T. Ganey (Claire Palermo), Vincent E. Hall Jr., Kayla Norris (Kaleb), Julia Ganey, Karrigan Hall, and Dylan R. Ganey and her great grandchild, Levi. Carolyn also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Phil Long, Jeff Watson (Kim), Jamie Watson, Heather Kendall (Reid), Chad Long (Sharon) and Courtney Carter (Joe) and her ten great nieces and nephews, two great great nieces and one great great nephew, not to mention Izzy, her faithful canine companion. The family would like to say a special thank you to her special friends and caregivers, Debbie McKee and Becka Worley, as well as the Liberty Home Care and Hospice Team.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel in Leland, 525 Village Road, Leland, NC 28451, and where funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm.
