In Loving Memory of Donald John Weiss
Donald John Weiss, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 28, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on March 11, 1941, to Herbert and Lydia Weiss, in the small town of Benson, Minnesota, where he learned the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family.
Don was a devoted husband to his wife, Estell Weiss, and a loving father to his daughter, Donna Gilbreath. His family meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was a pillar of strength, offering unwavering support and guidance to those he loved.
A Vietnam Veteran, Don served in the Air Force, demonstrating bravery and patriotism throughout his service.
Don had a zest for life and enjoyed pursuing his interests, including hunting, fishing, bird watching, hiking, and making knives. He found joy in the simple pleasures of nature and shared his love for the outdoors with his family and friends.
An adventurer at heart, Don had a passion for riding motorcycles, finding freedom on the open road. He embraced life with enthusiasm and approached every challenge with determination and resilience.
Don's legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Kryssa Weiss, John Holden, and Charles Gilbreath, and his great-grandchildren, Keira Howard, Liam Holden, and Ryder Herrera. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lydia Weiss, his brothers, Wally Weiss, Al Weiss, and Gerry Weiss, and their infant sister.
A celebration of Don's life will be held on May 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch, 13017 William Dodson Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. A gathering for all family and friends will follow after services nearby, at Bankhead Brewpub, 13090 Bee St, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
