Donald Willard Wilson, age 84, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away at his home on November 13, 2025. Born on October 9, 1941, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas and Julia (O'Callaghan) Wilson.
A 1959 graduate of South High School, Don proudly served in the United States Army from 1959–1965, spending two of those years stationed in Japan. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career in the printing industry, ultimately retiring as the business agent for the Printing Permissions Union.
Don made his home in Groveport, where he raised his family and served his community. He was a Lieutenant with the Groveport Police Department and devoted many years to coaching little league baseball. Even after coaching, he could always be found cheering from the sidelines at his children's and grandchildren's events.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Don owned several Domino's Pizza stores, two beauty salons, and a painting and sandblasting company. He was also a proud member of the Groveport Masonic Lodge #801. Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He had a deep appreciation for vintage cars-some pristine, others ongoing projects-and he was never without something to build or improve. Whether redoing a baseball diamond, restoring a vehicle, or tackling a home project, he approached every task with energy and determination, often relying on his trusted "helper," John-his John Deere tractor.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Melillo, in 2016; brother, Thomas O Wilson, and sister-in-law, Judy Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandy (Donald Wolfe) Melillo, and son, Donny (Monica Velasquez) Wilson; grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Koss, Emilee (Colby Mundy) Klamfoth, and Alex Wilson; great-grandchildren, Maria Koss, Rebekah Koss, Elijah Koss, Elena Reta, Isabella Klamfoth, and Everlee Mundy; brother, Robert Wilson; special friend, Lynda Nelson; extended family member, Cheryl Falls; and nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
Don was known for beginning every conversation with, "You want to hear something funny?" His wholehearted, enthusiastic approach to life was unmistakable. He never simply existed-he loved learning, trying new things, and embracing every challenge. If something didn't work the first time, he tried again, and again, until he figured it out.
Friends are welcome to visiting hours on November 28, 2025, from 11:00AM – 2:00PM, with a memorial service to begin at 2:00PM. At the DWAYNE R. SPENCE funeral home, 550 Hill Rd. N
