Donell Bailey, born October 14, 1940, in Royce City, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. She was lovingly known as "Nanny" to all who had the blessing of knowing her. Donell made her home in
Longview, Texas before residing in
Diana, Texas the last few years. She was a member of Moberly Baptist Church and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
Donell's greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to caring for those she loved and creating lasting memories together. She had a true green thumb and found peace and joy in tending to her beautiful flowers. Donell loved to travel and especially cherished camping with family and friends. She never turned down a good shopping trip or the opportunity to help decorate for any occasion. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she was the true queen of making it magical. A familiar and cherished presence at every sporting event, Donell could always be found proudly cheering on her grandchildren. Hosting family and friends was one of her greatest joys. She treasured nothing more than having everyone together under one roof.
Donell was married to Rex Gary Wallace for 22 years and later to James Bailey for 34 years. Both husbands preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Donna Blockway and Harles Bobo; her son, Dennis Wallace; and her siblings, James Bobo, Doris Gamel, Butch Bobo, and Susie Greer.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Teresa (Michael) Mooney, Dale (Patty) Wallace, Denise (Gary) Capps, Danette (David) Hinson, and Deanne (Mark) Purifoy; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy in her life.
Donell would do anything for anyone. She was known for her nurturing heart, and generosity. She truly was everyone's "Nanny" and a dear friend to all. Her love and servant's heart will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
