Donna Sue Akers

Donna Sue Akers, age 71, of Alderson passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Petyon Hospice House in Lewisburg. She was born October 14, 1952 in Creamery, a daughter of the late James H. Humphreys and Mary J. (Martin) Cunningham. Following graduation from high school, she worked as an interior designer for several years. Donna then went on to become self-employed selling houses that she remolded. She was a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church and the Monroe County Animal League. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, planting flowers, and taking care of pets, but most of all spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Ronnie Lee Akers and his wife Joanie, of Alderson; her sisters, Joyce Martin, of Morganton, NC, and Tamara Lowery and her husband Jerry, of Wytheville, VA: as well as several loving cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Carry Akers. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm. at the Akers Family Cemetery in Creamery, with Pastor Anthony Carter officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
