Donna Joan Castle

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Donna Joan Castle, age 97, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William M. Castle Jr., her brother, Howard W. Hicks and her parents, Lois M. and Paul L. Hicks. Donna is survived by her son, Paul (Cathy) Castle, daughter, Susan (Patrick) O'Linn; grandchildren, Leslie (Ed) Bodine, Mollie (Vince) Petitti, Emily Annable, Victoria (Joseph) Hembree and David Castle; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

Donna was raised in Tiltonsville, Ohio, and later moved with her family to Columbus, where she graduated from West High School. She attended The Ohio State University, majoring in library science, where she met her future husband. Donna worked in public school and college libraries in North Canton, Upper Sandusky, Mansfield and lastly Newark, Ohio, where she retired. She belonged to many organizations, including Welcome Wagon, Eastern Star, Pickerington Seniors, Los Amigos, Hubbies in Heaven and Peace United Methodist Seniors, which she greatly enjoyed. She was a dedicated and loyal member of Peace United Methodist Church in Pickerington. Donna loved the game of football and was an avid Buckeye fan.

In lieu of flowers, Donna requested that donations be made to Peace United Methodist Church, 235 Diley Road, Pickerington, Ohio, 43147, in her memory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Road N., Pickerington, Ohio 43147. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, at 11:00am at the same location. Interment will be private.
