Donna Rae (Johnson) Chapla, 82, of Arvada, CO, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Donna was born on February 8, 1942 to Charley and Viola Johnson of Mitchell, SD. She moved to Colorado when she was five years old and grew up in the Globeville/Elyria neighborhoods in Denver.

She was united in marriage to Charles Chapla on December 23, 1961. To this union, two sons were born; Barry Allen and Charles John. She was so proud of her boys.

She loved Elvis Presley, green chile, friends and family. Donna was a wonderful friend to many and cared deeply for them. She loved being with her friends and sharing jokes and laughs. The stories she shared about the shenanigans she, Chuck and their friends got into always ended with laughter. Donna loved hosting family gatherings at Christmastime and cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kindness and humor, and will be greatly missed.

Donna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles; sons Barry (Susan) from Arvada, CO and Charles (Candace) from Holden Beach, NC; grandchildren Justin (Alex) Chapla and Braeden Chapla, Nick (Hazer) Chapla, Nate Chapla, Noah Chapla, and Hannah Chapla; great-grandson Bentley and great-granddaughter Charlie Jo; brother, Randy Kropp, sister-in-law Sandy Johnson and best friends Herman and Barbara Ehret.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Viola Johnson, and her brothers Gerald (Jerry) and Charles (Gene), and her step-father Gene Kropp.
